“Chapeâu” by mis-mas is a local product, homage to natural products, to durability, and to craftsmanship.
The esparto, a fiber similar to seagrass, is common across the Mediterranean basin. Throughout history, this fiber has been used to weave baskets, make round screens used as filters in oil production, as well as rugs. We used it to make a lampshade we named “Chapeâu”, 75cm diameter.
The structure is made of stainless steel, and produced in a small workshop in Barcelona. The esparto portion is made by a family business in Jaen, which has been in operation for over 70 years.
